In 2008 a couple of friends and I thought a film festival for students could thrive in northeast Connecticut. Students in New York, Boston and Providence have the opportunities and venues they need to find their niche early and foster it. It's not as easy to make, show and discuss creative work in small, secluded towns in the woods. So we started a discussion. We made a website, emailed everyone we could google, and made some great contacts.
In 2014, the Quiet Corner Film Festival will finally hold it's inaugural festival. It's going to provide opportunities and a venue for deserving kids who don't have those benefits readily available to them. The prize money awarded can go towards tuition or buy books at film school. It can bankroll the next project or go towards better equipment.
